In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Nepal, the once-thriving villages that dotted the landscape were left in ruins. Homes were destroyed, infrastructure was damaged, and families were torn apart. The people of Nepal faced a tragedy of unimaginable proportions, struggling to rebuild their lives and communities from the ground up.

It was in this bleak landscape that the idea for Happy Village was born. A group of compassionate individuals came together with a shared vision of creating a sustainable and empowering solution to the crisis. They recognized that the best way to help the affected families was to provide them with a lasting source of income and promote community development.

Project Happy Village was created to do just that – to offer travelers an authentic Nepali village experience while also directly contributing to the local community’s growth and development. By staying in the homes of locals and participating in development projects and farms, visitors can immerse themselves in Nepali culture and traditions while making a positive impact on the community. But Happy Village is more than just a tourism project; it’s a beacon of hope for the people of rural community.

The project’s earnings are invested directly in improving educational conditions and providing healthcare services to the community, helping to build a brighter future for generations to come.

Current Project

Background

The non-profit school and community center established in March 2015, was severely affected by the devastating earthquake that hit the region, that took the lives of over 8,000 people and damaging billions in Nepal. In 2017, with the funding from Association Sainz De Baranda and efforts of 100s of volunteers, organization started rebuilding the facility with earthbag technology, which was completed in 2019. Despite the challenges, The facility already has three classrooms that offer training to women and adults, as well as extracurricular classes for children. However, due to the open environment in which meals are cooked, the organization faces some difficulties. Furthermore, there is not enough space to host the increasing number of volunteers and visitors.

The organization has a truss in place to expand the facility with eight more rooms. These rooms will include a primary healthcare facility, a kitchen, a dining hall, a store, and shelter for children and volunteers. The organization has already bought equipment such as solar heaters, etc. to build two bathrooms and two toilets. The completion of the building will provide better health opportunities, computer labs for children and adults, and shelter for vulnerable children and those coming from other parts to volunteer.

Facility Expansion

The expansion of the facility will provide better health opportunities as one of the rooms will be used as a clinic, and there will be a computer lab where children and adults will have access to learn better. Furthermore, there will be shelter for vulnerable children and those people coming from other parts to volunteer.

Empowerment of Women and Adults:

The expansion of the facility will empower women and adults by providing training in a safe environment. Women and adults can learn new skills and develop their vocational and technical knowledge. Additionally, the facility will provide a suitable environment for children to study under safer infrastructure in any weather conditions.

Accommodation for Volunteers:

The increasing number of volunteers and visitors require adequate space for hosting them. The expansion of the facility will provide basic standard comfort stay for the volunteers who want to share their skills and knowledge and make a better impact.
